2008 Adelaide Hills Viognier
This second release 2008 Viognier is a blend of two cool (no pun intended) vineyard sites in the Adelaide Hills. I've used a number of diferent non-conventional yeasts in the blend to get some complexity into the wine. The wine is aged on it's yeast lees as well to develop creaminess into the palate.
Eden Valley and the Adelaide Hills are probably my ‘dream sites’ for growing Viognier, and it is expected that future releases will be a blend of both regions..Until then though....This second release shows the classic Viognier traits of white peach and nectarine on the nose, with a textured palate. Partial fermentation in new French oak has contributed structure to the palate while the tank fermented portion retains the fresh aromatic aromas.
